I do my own custom font. The way they work is, it simply takes a character ascii value and maps it directly to a bitmap to display. I have been doing a little bit of reading to see how that would work for asian fonts (it's fine for all western fon…

Which skill slot is Magic Shield occupying? Is it in slot 3 (the one that's further to the left than the other two?) Or is it in one of the slots that hugs the right side of the screen?
-
Magic shield has a recharge time-- you can't spam the secondary skills. Was it also recharged and ready to go (fully white?)
-
That was a bug... Unholy 4 wasn't intended to be a farm!
-
The hurricane bug was a specific thing that I fixed in the latest one... sorry about that (and I'm surprised this wasn't anything anyone noticed earlier, because it would have been a problem from day 1).
-
It's fixed in the most recent update.
-
If I reveal that information, it would provide a way for people to crack the scrambling on the boneyard files, which they then would modify, which would then cause the gamecenter high score lists to become populated with impossible scores!
-
You didn't go too far-- I just don't know how to say more than I've made a note of this and when the time comes I'll deal with it. I assume you'll be in the beta, and can weigh in then. You are identifying real problems, and your solutions are oft…

@Pepper, you know I'm doing a 100% rewrite, right? I'm not lifting old code and old behaviors and putting them in, I'm coding it all from scratch. The machines are much more powerful now, more complex behaviors are possible.
-
Well, again, it's something I'll have to actually play to see... another solution might present itself (for instance, pillars, etc, in the rooms that can be used to block line of sight).
-
No... a company like EA buys a small company to prevent them from becoming a competitor in the future.
-
I have to have SOME kind of gold sink, but I am actually planning a new update relatively soon with a couple new fates, and one of the fates will be a fate you can buy over and over again, to reduce the perk tonic price. It just didn't go into this…

If Popcap refuses, then I put it out myself and it becomes part of the funding mechanism for SKHD. I think it's VERY unlikely that they will publish it-- for those that know anything about the company, Popcap used to put out 5-6 games/yr when I was…

What I'm trying to say, Pepper, is that since SKHD is a rewrite from the bottom up (new collision system, new everything), it's impossible for me to know until I get it into a fully playable state (with all monsters, etc) what needs are going to sho…

Shoot, I'll add a couple more w's... anything worth doing is worth overdoing!

Apple changed a library since ye olde days so that to get a dependable game save after the home button is pressed, I had to insert special code. I wasn't aware of it until just recently. So with the current versions of both Keep and Boneyard out t…

I wish! Apple makes running an iOS beta basically a whole job unto itself. And they have to approve every single build. But for me, at least, the point of a beta is so I can rapidly fix bugs and throw the fixes right at the beta testers.
-
Well, I don't generally plan ahead this concretely, Pepper. When you write a game, all your plans get shattered because actual reality ends up being dependent upon something like, say, what you tweaked the character's acceleration to be, or how wid…

The mana stat is fixed in the update that's getting submitted this weekend.

Well, specifically: 1, All attacks by enemies has to be dodge-able in some way: Again, more the domain of the rogue. But since it is a video game, yes, many attacks should be dodgeable (not all) but not all, and not even most-- being vulnerable is…

Magic shield won't protect from poison (since it's not any kind of "impact" damage-- Magic Shield is supposed to be kinda like those shields in Dune). However, poison cannot kill you-- it can only drain you to zero. Something else has to kill you.
-
I'm aware of the issue. One of the problems with the original SK is that at higher levels, the game just increases the power and quantity of the monsters. In a small room space, with a collision system that could run on an iPhone 1, it essentially…

Yeah, the systems are crazy... especially the in-app purchasing is difficult to test, across the board, on all systems. You'd think they'd just put a little checkbox that says "TEST MODE" that you can turn on or off as a developer. But no-- until …

Found it and fixed it-- the most recent beta contains the fix. The imps were kinda bugged, I don't know when they broke, probably sometime right before Apple changed things so that I couldn't update the games any more.
-
I don't THINK so... but to be safe, find /com.raptisoft.sb and backup the /sandbox folder somewhere. If something happens you can copy it back and resume right where you left off. But the whole scavenger mechanic is unchanged (I didn't revert perk…

I do not give specifics since any time I give too specific of a target date, the universe immediately experiences a wave collapse and is replaced with another universe that is exactly the same except that my target deadline is not met. Hopefully, s…

It's fixed now... the new update is hopefully going to be submitted today.

This is pretty accurate. Also of interest: hardcore characters who die become minibosses in the keep (Solomon makes use of your corpse, and it's the way to recover your stuff if you die). Also, freemium will have to be turned on MANUALLY (or will …

Supporting both systems would have caused me endless problems in every update in the future (I've learned this lesson in the past). So it has to just be a one-way thing. Viewing the Scavenger's goods, and tonics will still be money sinks. I also …

>Is all the stuff being discussed about SKHD talking about the desktop version of the app? It will be one unified version for all systems. Modding will require either a desktop or open system (completed mods will be downloadable on all system…
