Official Modding Support?

Obviously a lot can change in 8 years but I was wondering if there's any future plans to add modding supports for the steam releases?

  • If anyone has the know-how and time to mod Keep or Boneyard in it's corrent state that are welcome to do so as long as they are not profiting from it. If there is enough interest John would consider making them mod-able. What are people interested in modding with the games?

    @TheDorkLord first off, de-obfuscation of skill setting files would be a great start. John said they were only obfuscated due to iOS requirements, so why not get rid of it?

    And @Zomething they were referring to SKUME there, not the Steam ports of the mobile origin games.
  • Snackers, so if he cannot de-obfuscate the skill setting files, I am hearing that a easy modding of skill settings would be nice?
  • I am interested if there is an easy moddinng of skill setting (and other settings if possible) similar to dark.
  • I had a reply but it seems to have been lost;

    @Snackers I kinda figured SKHD/SKUME was reeled back in scope to just porting the originals to Steam

    @Peppermaster afaik there is no simple way, neither me or friends have been able to figure out the files yet

    @TheDarkLord thank you for informing me that John is okay with people trying to mod as it is!
    As for things I'd personally be interested in: Skills are a big one, I think it'd be cool to be able to add extra overlevels since we can theoretically reach +8 with rings and Mindstar now.
    Being able to modify or even add entirely new rings/perks would be awesome, but that seems a bit higher in scope than just letting us tweak numbers for pre-existing stuff

    And in general, the idea being able to finally see the real numbers behind things like how the waves scale and the math behind welded spells is a bit of a dream for me after playing for so long.
  • As the only person to mod the originally apps > I like the idea of modding but honestly want to leave it to SKUME as there will be built in support. But happy for either way and willing to help on projects

    I have gotten into skill files and can help people with that. I have yet to crack timeaftertime.cfg, scavenger64.dat, or HS64.DAT but I am guess for those it is less the encryption and more figuring out how things are saved

    We can already make custom rings drop (not custom effects) and I have done this on my save

    Weld is not in the config files so that might have to be passed from John
  • @Zomething if you are on the discord I can help you with the spell files, this would also mean we can edit story unlock order or requirements.
